The Accord Project hosted the first annual conference dedicated to the Smart Legal Contracts industry in London on June 6, 2019. The day-long conference featured a keynote speech by Lord Keen with industry speakers, panel discussions, and showcase demonstrations. The event included participation from the leading organizations involved in the development of Smart Legal Contract technology, applications and policy including UK LawTech Delivery Panel, ISDA, Law Society, IBM, R3 and many more.

Lord Keen was appointed Advocate General for Scotland in May 2015. He also became the spokesperson for Ministry of Justice business in the House of Lords in July 2016.

Jason Rozovsky will be presenting the work that R3 has done alongside the Accord Project on the coding of a promissory note. Jason is Senior Counsel at enterprise blockchain pioneer R3 and founder of the firm’s Legal Center of Excellence, which brings together top global law firms with specialty practices that handle legal and policy issues impacting the blockchain industry.

Clyde & Co Showcase

Clyde & Co is a global law firm with a specialist focus on insurance. Lee Bacon will be presenting Clyde’s recently launched parametric insurance smart contract. The contract will automate the performance of the policy by receiving weather data, calculating potential claims obligations, and producing an exportable report of insurance premiums or losses.

ISDA Showcase

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) is a trade organization of participants in the market for over-the-counter derivatives. ISDA has also created a standardized contract (the ISDA Master Agreement) to enter into derivatives contracts among its legal and policy work. Ciaran McGonagle and Ian Sloyan will be presenting their work on the Common Domain Model (CDM) which is intended to provide an industry standard blueprint for derivative trades and its lifecycle.
